Course Objectives:
• General
o Apply test-taking strategies specific to (online and paper-based) English proficiency exams.
o Study and practice common collocations.

verb + noun: commit treason
verb + expression with preposition: burst into tears
verb + adverb: wave frantically
• Reading
o Read for speed (scanning, skimming, etc.) in academic publications.
o Look for context clues and determine meaning.
• Listening
o Understand dialogues, lecture excerpts and academic talks in English.
o Connect content (summarize a process).
• Speaking
o Engage in scripted dialogues and improvised answers to questions.
o Practice expressing general ideas, summarizing lectures, and maintaining body composure.
• Writing
o Review and practice transitions, summarizing, and paraphrasing.
